Diveagar-Srivardhan-Harihareshwar

If it is your time to take break from the daily cores and all u expect is a long silence with nature. You are making a right choice with this destination. It is about 180 Km from Mumbai and one of virgin beaches ,yet to be explored by the travel hungry citizens
Ideal way to reach here is to take a early morning breakfast at Palaspe at the famous 'Datta Wada Paw' after 30 Km of drive from Navi Mumbai. then proceed straight from PEN towards Nagothane by the Goa Highway. Those who dont stop for teh wada pav may stop here at the Kamat (Govinda) about 4 Km before Nagothane and have wholesome breakfast. You may then keep on with Goa highway upto Mangaon and then turn right(SH97) for Mhasale. This journey is through thick forestation on both sides and will have a Borale Ghat which is quite a drivers adventure. From there you are almost on your onwn as there will be no signboards and you may have to ask the locals for directions to Diveagar. But the road is pretty straight and being a lot in interiors it is the only road ....:) so with not many option there is a good chnace that you reach the destination correctly.
Diveagar is a small village it rose to fame in 1997 when the GOLD statue of the lord Ganesh was found in a farm of a villages. This is supposedly 1000 years old and belongs to the kings who lived there.
There are no words to describe the beach. The land nearby is covered with Kevda trees allover and then there is a road in between after which the vegitaiton starts. The place is isolated from light and any other human touch. YOu should not expect anything more than coconut water on the beach. The tourism  is slowy catching up and we got a chance to go for a early morning ride in the private motor boat for Dolphin spotting. though we did not get any dolphin we surely got a lifetime experiance to jump of the mid sea and take a dip . The adventure sports is promoted by a player ' Avni Sport' some Mr Karmarkar, he is a cool chap and will find this very reasonable.
Next day the turn was for Harihareshwar which is a enjoable ride if one takes the travel from Divegar to Srivardhan via costal road . BTW Srivardhan is on the way to Harihareshwar and is another good destination for beaches. There are few good temples and a Peshwe smarak at this place but thanks to the MTDC there is very little development in this small place. It is a very calm town and there is very little to see expect the nature itself . Harihareshwar is another 16 Km away from Srivardhan and is a rather tourist place with the MTDC resorts touhing the vast area of the beach and the mandir being a central attaraction. This Mandir is a Kal Bhirav and shiv temple and the beauty of the statue here is that the Shivling is rectangular in shape .  The place is best visited at the poornhimasi as there  is festival here and We could see the Palkhi - with thousands of lights lighted .
The pradakshina is another peculiar thing about this place , it starts from next to the mandir and one has to climb the mountain about 50 feet and then decend another 50 feet to reach the coast. Then there is a coastal walkway of about 200 meters on the rock. The sea has made a unique design on the walls of this place and it is an experiance see various rock formation on the way. The beach is again scenic paradise and one may just spent all day here.
In all it is a 2 nights 3 days affair and can be accessable any time from mumbai.
So dont wait enjoy your next weekend. Dont forget to buy amba vadi, syrup of Kokam, mango, awla, Jambul, neem and also relish lots of variety of fises you may eat in the konkans own tase.
